DAY 1

Arrive Adelaide
The ‘City of Churches’ is yours to explore (flights to arrive prior to 12. 30pm) before meeting a ‘Local Specialist’ later for a guided tour of Adelaide Central Market. Savour the aroma of freshly baked goods before spending a relaxing evening with your Travel Director and fellow travellers at a Welcome Reception and dinner at La Boca Bar and Grill.

DAY 2

Adelaide – Wilpena Pound
Journey to one of Australia’s oldest wine regions, traversing the gold and green rolling hills of Clare Valley. You’ll join a ‘Local Specialist’ at Sevenhill Cellars, the only remaining Jesuit-owned winery in Australia. Later, continue to the heart of the Flinders Ranges to Wilpena Pound, a remarkable natural amphitheatre spanning nearly 8,000 hectares.

DAY 3

Wilpena Pound – Port Augusta
Join your Travel Director for a leisurely walk to Wangarra Lookout, with its panoramic views over Wilpena Pound, and visit Hills Homestead, the home of brave settlers who sought to make a life in the harsh Australian environment. Journey through Pichi Richi Pass and historic Quorn bound for Port Augusta, a natural harbour on the Spencer Gulf. Later, you’ll visit Wadlata Outback Centre before dining at a local restaurant.

DAY 4

Port Augusta – Coober Pedy
We visit a former rocket-testing site at Woomera this morning, before travelling through salt-lake country to Coober Pedy, regarded by many as the opal capital of the world. View an opal demonstration with a ‘Local Specialist’, who’ll then lead you through some of the town’s iconic underground buildings, including a church and a private residence. Tonight, we stay at one of Trafalgar’s ‘Stays with Stories’, providing an opportunity to experience Coober Pedy ‘dugout’ living.

DAY 5

Coober Pedy – Uluru (Ayers Rock) (2 Nights)
Continue your journey to the Red Centre, arriving in the dual World Heritage listed Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park, where we’ll spend the next two nights at one of Trafalgar’s ‘Stays with Stories’, the Desert Gardens Hotel. ‘Make a Difference’ with your visit which helps support a Join Trafalgar initiative to protect the environment and preserve the traditions of the native Mutitjulu community. This evening, sparkling wine is served as you witness the sunset over Australia’s most renowned natural landmark.

DAY 6

Uluru Sunrise – Kata Tjuta (the Olgas)
Rise early this morning and ‘Dive into Culture’, witnessing a soul-stirring Red Centre sunrise. Embark on a tour around the base of Uluru, then enjoy a self-guided stroll or take a guided walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole, whose ancient Aboriginal rock paintings have been preserved for millions of years. Your Travel Director will explain their significance before your journey continues to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas), thirty-six domes of red-hued sedimentary rock.

DAY 7

Uluru (Ayers Rock) – Kings Canyon
Continue through the stark red desert landscape to Kings Canyon, admiring its ancient red rock walls that soar 100 metres above Kings Creek. Trace the rim of the canyon and connect with the natural beauty of Watarrka National Park or take a leisurely stroll along the sandy creek bed.

DAY 8

Kings Canyon – Alice Springs (2 Nights)
The Australian outback seems to stretch endlessly as you journey past vast cattle properties today en route to Alice Springs. Visit the historic Telegraph Station, the first communication link between Australia and England, then drive to Anzac Hill for panoramic views over ‘The Alice’.

DAY 9

Alice Springs Sightseeing
After breakfast this morning, ‘Dive into Culture’ and join a local Aboriginal guide to gain a deeper understanding of the culture and traditions of the local Arrernte People at the Alice Springs Desert Park. Learn about the endangered animals of the Red Centre, then visit the headquarters of the Royal Flying Doctor Service to see how this iconic facility provides emergency medical assistance in the outback. ‘Connect with Locals’ later, joining the Falzon family at their Earth Sanctuary World Nature Centre for a Be My Guest home-cooked barbecue dinner and insights into the sustainable lifestyle the family has created.

DAY 10

Alice Springs – Tennant Creek
Visit the legendary School of the Air this morning with a ‘Local Specialist’, then travel north, stopping to view Karlu Karlu (Devils Marbles), an intriguing outcrop of granite boulders that hold great spiritual significance to the Aboriginal owners of the land. We overnight in the former gold-mining town of Tennant Creek.

DAY 11

Tennant Creek – Katherine
Wet your whistle at the historic Daly Waters Pub, before continuing to Mataranka for a refreshing swim in its crystal-clear thermal springs. Spend the night in Katherine, where the outback meets the tropics.

DAY 12

Katherine – Kakadu
Our first stop is Nitmiluk National Park, where we’ll embark on a leisurely cruise along the Katherine Gorge. Venturing deep into Kakadu, we’ll cruise with a ‘Local Specialist’ on Yellow Water Billabong, famed for its diverse species of birdlife and estuarine crocodiles.

DAY 13

Kakadu – Darwin (2 Nights)
Visit Ubirr, one of Kakadu’s renowned Aboriginal rock art sites, then walk to nearby Nadab Lookout, providing scenic views over the surrounding wetlands and escarpments. This afternoon, your choice of sightseeing in Darwin could see you visit the Mindil Beach Sunset Market, where Trafalgar will treat you to dinner, visit Crocosaurus Cove, or perhaps sit back and relax under the stars at Darwin’s famous Deckchair Cinema.

DAY 14

Litchfield National Park
Travel to Litchfield National Park today, pausing to examine the park’s iconic termite mounds. We’ll view Florence Falls, then venture to Wangi Falls with some free time to swim in the large waterhole, before returning to Darwin. This evening, set sail on Darwin Harbour with your Travel Director and fellow travellers for Farewell Dinner Cruise.

DAY 15

Depart Darwin
Say farewell to your fellow travellers as your holiday comes to an end this morning after breakfast. You’ll be transferred to Darwin Airport for your onward flight (flights anytime).
